William B. "Bill" West, 87, of Niagara, KY, formerly of Owensboro, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017 at Western State Nursing Facility. Mr. West was born October 9, 1929 in Henderson County to the late Charles Byrd West Sr. and Bertha Mershon West. Bill graduated from Henderson County High School and attended the University of Kentucky where he earned a degree in Mathematics. He was a decorated Army veteran, serving in active combat during the Korean War. He retired after more than 50 years of service as a licensed professional civil engineer, licensed land surveyor, and partner of Johnson, Depp & Quisenberry. Bill's career accomplishment can be seen in the many roadway projects he designed across Kentucky and surrounding states. Mr. West was a devoted and active member of the churches he attended. He was one of the founders and charter members of Trinity United Methodist Church and extremely involved in the Louisville Conference of the UMC. Upon his retirement, he returned to Henderson County and transferred his church membership to Niagara UMC. He was also a member of the Niagara volunteer fire department serving as their treasurer for many years. Among his favorite hobbies were gardening, growing fruit trees, sharing his produce with friends and neighbors and UK basketball.

Mr. West was preceded in death by his loving wife and partner in life of 57 years, Anna (Ann) Wiesman; son, William Byron West; brother, Charles Byrd "C.B." West, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Annette West.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Paul M. West and his wife Jeana of Owensboro and John D. West of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughters, Mary Susan West and her husband Bob Trombley of Cincinnati, OH and Jean Ann McGinnis and her husband Thad of Golden, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Jo Ann West Gerst and her husband Paul of Winston Salem, NC; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 28 at the Niagara United Methodist Church with Reverend Rick Nollman officiating. Visitation prior to the service beginning at 2:00 PM.
