Lila Jean Partridge, 95, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Signature Healthcare—Hillcrest. She was born in Niles, Ohio on November 30, 1921 to the late Myrle Eugene, Sr. and Anna Elizabeth Brown Partridge. She graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in Mineral Ridge, Ohio in 1939 and from Youngstown College in Youngstown, Ohio. Lila Jean was the owner, teacher, and dance master of Lila Jean's School of the Dance for 56 years from 1952 until 2008. She taught dance for a total of 70 years in Ohio, Tennessee, and Owensboro starting at the age of 17. Lila Jean had taught children as young as two years old and taught several generations in many families. She was a lifetime member of the Dance Educators of America, the Dance Masters of America, and the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters. Lila Jean was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation. She was a Kentucky Colonel and had become a member of the "Hillcrest Hall of Fame" in 2014.
Lila Jean was also preceded in death by her sister, Maxine May Partridge in 1927, her sister-in-law, Lanita Joyce Partridge in 2010, and a great niece, Lucretia D. Partridge in 2001.
Surviving are her brother, Myrle Eugene Partridge, Jr. of Owensboro, nephew, Myrle Eugene Partridge III and his wife Diana of Henderson, niece, Vivian S. Partridge of Owensboro, and a cousin, Gloria Popp of Mineral Ridge.
There will be visitation from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Friday with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
