Obituary

Earl Emery Davis, 97, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born May 20, 1920 in Tell City, IN to the late Emery and Minnie Foerster Davis. Earl was retired from Tennessee Valley Authority as an Engineering Aid. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. Earl was a Pearl Harbor survivor and was aboard the U.S.S. Nevada when it sank. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, the U.S.S. Nevada Association, the Pearl Harbor Association, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2939 in Tell City. He was baptized at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Loeran M. Ball Davis in July of 1976 and his second wife, Josie Dunbar Davis in February of 1986, siblings, James K. Davis, Clyde W. Davis, Bonita L. Busby, and Merlee Little.

Surviving are a daughter, Loeran Dee Davis of Belton, TX, granddaughter, Lorie M. DuBose of Texas , great granddaughter, Alexandria DuBose, a sister, Mary Edith Murphy of Owensboro with whom he resided, several nieces, nephews, and cousins including niece Debra Pounds of Owensboro, and a great nephew, Aaron J. Pounds of Owensboro.

Services will be private with enichement at Greenwood Cemetery in Tell City.
