Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Judy by adding your memories and photos.

Judith "Judy" Nan Evans Roby, 79, of Owensboro, passed away Sunday August 15, 2021 at her home. The Daviess County native was born July 12, 1942 to the late George Lee and Nan Louise (Smith) Evans. Judy was a long-time active member of St. Pius X Church where she was very involved especially during the annual picnic. She was a proud graduate of OCHS, class of 1960 and loved her Catholic faith. Judy was a very well known and successful loan officer in Owensboro starting her career at Pence Mortgage Company in the mid 1970's. She worked for various companies for 3 decades before retiring from Old National Bank in 2007.

Judy never met a stranger and had a great sense of humor. She loved to entertain in her home whether it was for a holiday, her memorable Super Bowl parties, or one of the many Roby BBQ's. Judy was also an avid fan of Owensboro Catholic and UK sports.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Roby also was preceded in death by her loving husband, Danny in 2002 and their son, Kevin, in 1972.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Kris (Sally) Roby, Tina (Michael) Edge both of Owensboro, and Mandy (Matt) Roberts of Paris, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Tristan and Kelsea Roby, Madeleine, Anne Elizabeth, Hagan, Will, and Miles Edge, Gabriel, Dominic, and Sophie Roberts; sister-in-law, Leah Kay Harrington (Bobby); a niece and nephew; many dear cousins and close friends.

A funeral Mass will be 12:00 noon Thursday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 pm with prayers at 6:30 and Thursday from 10:00 until 11:30 am at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Carmel Home and Passionist Monastery.

I am sorry to hear of Judy's passing. We have been neighbors for the past 10 years. She was always interested in keeping up with my family and so proud to tell me about hers. She will be truly missed. I am so sorry I wasn't able to come to the visitation but we were out of town. Praying for all her family and friends.

I remember all the years we lived next door and our kids played. Judy's voice must have carried for miles because when I wanted MIchael to come home I just phoned Judy and she went out and called for him.
He always heard her.
There are so many little but lovable and thoughtful things I remember and my family will never forget.

Judy was so kind and helpful while processing a home loan for my husband and me. And no matter where we would run into each other, she always remembered me. So full of life and laughter. She will not be forgotten. While heaven gained an angel, we lost one. Rest In Peace my friend.

Judy's smile and upbeat attitude were always a welcome sight when she came in to the office at Castlen Realtors. She will be missed by all of us, but memories of her will always put a smile on my face. Steve Thornberry. Tina, so sorry for your loss.

Judy was my "other" sister being forever best friends with my sister, Theresa Scherm Ray. I grew up with her in my life. I forgave her years ago for trying to lock me in a closet when their high school friends came over. Rarely was there a time when I came home for a visit that I didn't get to her house even it was late. We'd set at the kitchen table, have a beer, and many laughs. Last year when forest fires came very close to our home, Judy called me several times a week to see if we were in danger. I will truly miss here beautiful smile and loving friendship.
Love you so much!

I am so sorry Mandy. I didn't even know your mom but I loved seeing your beautiful relationship with her. She reminded me a lot of my own mom. Love you - call me any time.

I am forever grateful for Judy's visit the week after my granddaughter died suddenly. When others were starting to forget Autumn and we were trying to learn to live without her, Judy came to my home and told me about Kevin. Her pain still there in 2004 as she showed me how to cherish each day we had instead of just mourning the loss. Hopefully I can continue to pass on her kindness. Thank you Judy. God Bless You.
