I will not be able to attend the celebration of Karen's life. As my mother in law passed away also and her celebration is on the same day.
It breaks my heart to not be able to honor her there with everyone so I thought I would try to tell you how i saw her.
I moved to Henderson in 5th grade. She was very shy and quiet. We ran track together. But our friendship only grew many many years later. After marriage, after childre were grown.
I wanted to tell her son what an absolute angel his mother was to everyone that she came into contact with I have not met, nor have i ever known many people in my life as gentle as she was. And i have never, from 5th grade intil the last time we were together about a month before her surgery, heard her ever say anything bad about anyone. She had the most gentle spirit of anyone i have ever known.
Anyone that had the honor to know this dear woman, you were blessed....we all were blessed to know here. But I know that I will see her again. She and i had a conversation after our last visit. I asked her to forgive me for something. We went on to discuss our personal relationship with Jesus. How we weren't perfect, just forgiven. She blessed me so that night. So I know that I know I will see this wonderful woman again in heaven. Because she had accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior she is with Him now rejoicing with all of her loved ones that have gone before her.
And Karen , I will miss you more than I know how to say. You were a treasure, a true gift to all you knew...and after i see Jesus, my Momma and Daddy and all my family already there....I'm lookin' for you Girl!

P.S. i will always hold dear to my heart the note you wrote me the day before you left this world. I love you !!

I worked with Karen at Moonlite and I immediately LOVED her. She is the most generous and kind-hearted person you will ever meet! She took care of all of us and became Momma Karen to us! She spoiled all of us, especially me because I was her favorite ;)....and her beloved furbabies! She gave the best hugs that made you feel like you were the only person in the world. I am a better person because I knew her. I will miss my sweet, sweet friend. I will always remember the fun memories we share. Until we meet again. With love-Always-Shelley Mattingly :)
